Megoldás. A csúcsoknál leeső részekből és egy kivágott körből össze lehet rakni egy 6 cm oldalú négyzetet. Tehát a kivágott és eldobott darabok összes területe egy 6 cm oldalú négyzet és 3 db 3 cm sugarú kör területével egyezik meg, ezt kell kivonni a 18 cm sugarú négyzet területéből. A keresett terület \(\displaystyle 18^2-6^2-3\cdot9\pi\approx 203,2~\mathrm{cm}^2\).
